LYMM RL 26 WIGAN RIVERSIDES 16 - 27/06/09
Try braces from Dane Evans and Carl Lloyd helped Lymm RL to go joint
top of the Rugby League Conference North West Premier Division with
a 26-16 victory over neighbours Wigan Riversiders.
Lymm
had gone into the game looking to avenge their opening day defeat against
the Riversiders and although they put in an inconsistent performance
they still came good in the end to secure the two league points against
their spirited opponents.
With
Blackpool Sea Eagles causing the upset of the season by defeating Widnes
Saints, Lymm are now well placed to launch and assault on a Minor Premiership.
It
was Wigan who got out of the blocks early to register a converted try
after 8 minutes and 20 minutes later they increased their advantage
with a second score. Carl Lloyd finally got Lymm on the board with a
try goaled by Pete Leonard after 34 minutes to leave Wigan in front
6-10 at the break.
The
visitors increased their advantage two minutes into the second half
before Lymm came powering home to dominate what remained of the game
as tries from Frankie Bird, Evans and Lloyd and two Leonard conversions
saw them secure the victory in the warm conditions.
